Episode 16: A return to form, again

Welcome to the sixteenth episode of the Kit Nerd Corner podcast, in which we settle down and just talk about shirts. Some sponsors too. No Kristin again, so we have no idea what she thinks about sponsors.

Love ’em, hate ’em: It’s more sponsors! In this episode we talk about the hate ’em ones. Turns out there are a lot of different reasons to dislike sponsors.

We then turned our keen attention to some real bangers that were released. Also a terrible shirt or two.

As (sometimes) usual, we bought some shirts, and we talked about those shirts. Mark delved into his spreadsheets. Rich impulse bought a shirt he brought to our attention last episode. And another last episode callback: Brenton replaced one of the shirts that he lost.

We finished off by noting some random things we noticed in the soccer world.

And as usual, all the shirts we talk about are pictured below.

Enjoy!

Episode rundown, with times bolded:

0:00INTRODUCTION

Intro music: Definition by Black Star (Mos Def and Talib Kweli)

  • 56:15 – Brenton bought a Canada 2005 home by Adidas, which turned out to be the women’s shirt – fun!

Some of us bought things

Mark bought this Cagliari 2020-21 home by Adidas, and is getting it shipped to a hotel in Portugal, where a concierge with hold it for him. It’s all very sophisticated.

Rich finished recording last episode and immediately bought the shirt he highlighted, the 2023-24 third for FC Prishtina by Phoenix. This is a picture of Rich with a Kosovar model.

And Brenton replaced his lost Canada 2018 home by Umbro with a 2005 home by Adidas. But the women’s shirt. It flares a tiny bit at the hips.

Anything else?

Roma’s new third that is beautiful but will soon be defaced with a hotel sponsor; Albion Rovers (the one in Wales 5th div) new away by Tor sponsored and incorporating the Subway logo.

Napoli’s 2023 Halloween shirt by Armani; Sharktopus (!) US Open Cup shirt by Olive & York.

And that’s it. Thanks for reading along, gang. Enjoy soccer!
